Frequently asked questionsQ: What does DebtHound do?A: Launched on 30 June 2007 in Cape Town, DebtHound aims to make accounting and marketing procedures easier and more affordable for small business. The system currently provides two services: an instant bulk SMS facility and a scheduled SMS delivery service for account reminders, debt collection, invoicing etc. Automatically personalised messages are dispatched from a simple online interface and delivered directly to clients' cell phones, wherever they are, at any time of the day or night. Q: How does it work? A: After signup and logging in, you can begin listing clients on the system. Once listed, you compose the message you want to send and, in the case of scheduled SMSs, select a messaging schedule and activate. Your messages are then delivered automatically on schedule 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Bulk SMSs are delivered immediately at high speed from our world-class gateway. Q: How do I list clients on the system? A: Clients can be added individually via an online form or in batches directly from your MS Excel (or similar) spreadsheet software. You can list contacts with the bare minimum of a first name and a phone number, or extend that information to include their full name, the amount due and the due date. The added parameters can then be used dynamically to personalise your SMS text messages. Q: When are my messages delivered? A: Whenever you want them to. You specify the month, hour and minute you want messages to be sent. These can be single time-points, e.g. Mondays at 8:00AM, or regular intervals such as every 2 hours. Q: How much does it cost? A: Signup and membership are free! To start sending messages, one purchases message credits for R 1.00 (ZAR (South African Rands)) each, which are then spent based on the message type, size and destination. Scheduled text messages sent to the majority of destinations cost approximately 0.75 credits, whereas bulk SMSs currently cost 0.36 credits each. Discounts are available for each type of SMS. Q: Can I send messages internationally? A: Yes, messages are deliverable to the majority of networks in more than 196 countries. Q: How do I know that my clients get my messages? A: Each message is tracked and feedback is reported to you directly from the mobile network used for delivery. Delivery reports are shown on the home screen at the click of a button. You will be informed the instant that your client opens your message. Q: Does it really work for debt collection? A: The system aims to invade the privacy of your most trying debtors on a regular basis - forcing them into payment. It contacts them on their most personal number (their cell phone / mobile) at any time of day, tirelessly reminding them of their dues. It is the combination of an unceasing, regularly scheduled reminder and the invasion of privacy that makes this method of debt collection so unforgettably effective. Don't believe us?
